A TWO-WEEK festival of arts, music, drama and comedy returns to Goostrey later this month.
Goosfest is run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers and will be launched with an arts and crafts weekend from Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29.
Free exhibitions will be held in and around the village, including fascinating old pictures capturing Goostrey’s cycling heritage at The Crown Inn on September 28 from 10am to 4pm.

The 10-day main festival runs from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 13, with a wide range of events designed to appeal to as many people as possible.
All types of music ranging from jazz and classical to country and western will be celebrated.
Other events include plays, lectures, a singing workshop and a comedy night.
The headline act is a show touring from London theatres, The Chicago Blues Brothers at Clonter Opera Theatre, Swettenham, on Sunday October 13.
This award-winning takes the audience to musical capitals of USA for a selection of rhythm and blues, soul, country and Motown.
A hand-clapping, foot-stomping hit parade corker of an evening is promised.
Gifted singer songwriter Edwina Hayes will be performing at Goostrey Village Hall on Saturday, October 6.
Having toured with legends like Jools Holland, Van Morrison and Nanci Griffith, Edwina is described as ‘the sweetest voice in England’.
The Matchbox, a compelling one-woman play by Irish playwright Frank McGuinness, features love, hate and the desire for revenge.
This powerful production is being staged at Goostrey Village Hall at 8pm on Wednesday, October 9.
September’s weekend of free exhibitions feature some beautiful rural locations.
‘Art in the Barns’ brings together the work of more than 20 professional artists, largely from the North West of England, as well as opportunities to take part in workshops.
This year, art is being exhibited at three separate locations, Orchards Farm Barn opposite Bidlea Dairy, Twemlow, Clonterbrook Farm Gallery near Clonter Opera Theatre in Swettenham, and in partnership with Goosfest, the FG Gallery at Boots Green, at the northern end of Booth Bed Lane.
Several arts and craft workshops are also being held.
Topics include watercolour painting, autumn door wreath making, tote bag making and bookbinding.
Goostrey Flower Club is staging a flower display entitled ‘Nature’s Bounty’ in St Luke’s Church, from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 12.
