A CORONER has reached a conclusion into the death of a young legal assistant.
Rebecca Simmons died at her home address in Knutsford on February 6 this year, aged just 30.
Warrington Coroner’s Court on Wednesday heard how she had been born in Whiston, with her occupation being given in court as a legal assistant.
Proceedings were concluded by way of a written inquest submitted by Elizabeth Wheeler, assistant coroner for Cheshire.
The court heard how Ms Simmons died at her home address on February 6, 2024, ‘as a result of an accidental overdose of illicit prescription medication’.
Her medical cause of death was given as central nervous system and respiratory depression, as well as combined opioid toxicity.
Presiding over this hearing was Jacqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire.
She said: “The coroner conclusion reached was that the death was drug-related.
“That brings inquest proceedings to a close. All that remains is for me to express my condolences to the family of Rebecca Simmons.”
