A MAN who got behind the wheel while 16 times the legal drug limit has been banned from the road.
Aziz Ur-Rehman, of Knowle Park, Handforth, pleaded guilty to drug-driving when the case was heard at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on July 29.
The 44-year-old was driving a white Mini Cooper on Wilmslow Road on March 13, this year, when he was stopped by the police.
A subsequent blood test revealed the defendant had more than 800µg/L of Benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, in his system.
It also showed Ur-Rehman had more than 32µg/L of cocaine itself in his blood.
The legal limits for these drugs are 50µg/L and 10µg/L respectively.
The defendant also pleaded guilty to being in possession of four grams of cocaine and driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Magistrates ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the cocaine but no separate penalty was imposed for the offences.
Ur-Rehman was disqualified from driving for 14 months, fined £320 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
His driving licence was endorsed.
Magistrates took his guilty pleas into consideration when imposing the sentence.
Ur-Rehman was granted permission to pay the £533 court penalty in £40 monthly instalments starting on September 1.
