A PASSENGER who failed to pay a £6.70 train fare has been hit with a £460 court bill.
Mohammed Sadqi, of Heywood Close, Alderley Edge, boarded a train without a valid ticket on November 23, last year.
The 25-year-old was travelling on a Govia Thameslink train at Highbury and Islington, Barkingside Magistrates’ Court heard on May 20.
Sadqi had boarded a train in a non compulsory ticket area without a valid ticket, contrary to a railway byelaw, the court was told.
After listening to the evidence magistrates found the case proved.
Sadqi was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs, £88 victim surcharge and £6.70 compensation.
The defendant was given until June 17 to pay the £464.70 court penalty.
