A MERCEDES driver clocked speeding has been hit with a £400 court penalty.

Danielle Howard, of Springwood Avenue, Knutsford, was caught on camera driving a Mercedes on Chelford Road at 42mph at 12.30pm on October 4, last year, Chester Magistrates’ Court heard on May 13.

The speed limit of 30mph was signified by street lighting placed at less than 200 yard intervals, the hearing was told.

Magistrates found the 29-year-old guilty after listening to the evidence in her absence.

Howard was fined £215 and ordered to pay £110 costs and £86 victim surcharge.

Her driving licence was endorsed with four points.

The defendant was given until July 11 to pay the £411 court penalty.
