A SUMMER fun day is being held to celebrate the success of a special Knutsford charity.

Families are invited to Toft Cricket Club on Sunday, June 23 for an action-packed programme of live entertainment, activities, events, food and drink.

All proceeds will go to The Welcome, Knutsford’s community café and support centre.

This local charity provides a safe space to access the basics in housing, healthcare, education, employment and nutritious food for disadvantaged individuals and families.

The event is the first of its kind and organisers hope to attract hundreds of people.

Bands, singers and a karaoke promise plenty of live music.

A golf drive, cricket, rugby, tug of war, egg and spoon race, toss the caber and frisbee golf will provide lots of opportunities to learn a new sport and discover hidden skills.

Curious Critters and a bouncy castle are among the many attractions to keep children entertained.

A barbecue, cake stall and licensed bar will be available.

Knutsford’s new mayor Cllr Colin Banks will open the event at 1pm.

Chairman of trustees Simon Carin said: “Our fun day will have something for everyone, food, a bar, a range of activities and some great raffle and auction prizes.

“Our overall aim is to engage with the community of Knutsford and to motivate people to support the Welcome in any way they can.”

Toft Cricket Club has provided the grounds, clubhouse and marquee without charge and also sponsored the fun day and donated £1,000.

Toft Taverners has also sponsored the event and donated £1,000 and will provide volunteers on the day.

Pulse of Perfumery has donated a star prize worth £500 for an auction.

Simon said: ”We have a phenomenal number of volunteers who do an unbelievable job.

“Fantastic people are giving up their time to help the local community.”

Maggie Clayton, a long serving volunteer at The Welcome, who works for two days every week without fail, received a Civic Award at Knutsford Town Council awards this year.

Tickets for the fun day, priced £5 per person or £10 for a family of four, are available from The Welcome, 146-147 Longridge.
