WEDDING bells are ringing at a dozen venues across St Helens – and some are not where you might expect to be able to tie the knot.

There are 12 hotels, golf clubs and restaurants in the town that are licensed for marriage ceremonies and wedding receptions.

Did you know you can even get married at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium?

Or how about St Helens Town Hall?

All hotels, pubs and bars, and function rooms can host wedding receptions but only 12 are approved venues where legal marriage and civil partnerships can take place, after being granted approval by St Helens Council.

Couples can say I do at hotels like Mercure Haydock, St Helens Hotel and Holiday Inn Haydock.

Establishments like The Hayloft and The Junction Inn feature on the list as do Greenacres Rainford and Rainhill Hall.

There are four sporting venues on the list – the Totally Wicked Stadium, Haydock Park Racecourse, Blundells Hill Golf Club and Houghwood Golf Ltd.

You can even tie the knot at St Helens Town Hall!

As well as hosting weddings, these establishments can also host naming ceremonies and vow renewals.

Weddings will be led by registrars at civil ceremonies and aren’t religious – if you would like to have a religious service, this will need to take place in a church or place of worship and be conducted by a religious official.
