WILMSLOW community show returns this summer and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The annual celebration takes place on Sunday, July 7, from 11am to 4pm on the carnival field.

Organised by volunteers, the show is one of the largest community events in the town and aims to offer entertainment and activities for all ages.

Wilmslow Town Council is sponsoring the event with a community grant of £10,000.

This will fund free donkey rides, some children’s activities and free stalls for community groups and charities so that they can showcase or raise money for their group.

The grant will also be used towards security costs and traffic management.

Town mayor Cllr Jon Newell said: “Wilmslow Town Council is delighted to sponsor the Wilmslow Community Show once again.

“The show is an annual event enjoyed by all generations of the local community.

“We are pleased to support its continued success by enabling some free, fun activities, as well as helping Wilmslow community groups and charities raise money or promote their cause to many people.”

A ‘Victorian Wonders’ show is being introduced this year with several performances throughout the day and a workshop.

Other highlights include a funfair, a variety of animals for people to see and a dog show. A car show, cookery marquee and ‘Art Under Canvas’ marquee are making a welcome return.

A selection of artisan foods will be available as well as to a picnic area for those who want to bring their own food.
