A DRIVER caught four milligrammes over the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road.

Thomas King, of Hollow Lane, Knutsford, admitted having 84 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on February 22.

The legal limit is 80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

The 29-year-old was caught over the limit whilst behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa on Wharton Bridge in Winsford on August 5, last year.

King was banned from driving for a year.

Drink-driving is a criminal offence that carries an obligatory driving disqualification of a minimum period of 12 months.

This ban could be reduced to 13 weeks if the defendant completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course by September 22, this year.

King was also fined £427 and ordered to pay £120 costs and £171 victim surcharge.

Magistrates took his guilty plea into consideration when imposing the sentence.

King was ordered to pay the £718 court penalty in full by April 22.
