A KNUTSFORD business man was overwhelmed to receive a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to industry.

Neil Stott, managing director of Chain + Conveyor Ltd, has been recognised for his contribution to the world of industrial mechanical engineering.

Over the past 60 years, he has pioneered the use of conveyor chains and systems.

The Material Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) announced his award at the Bulkex Conference and Exhibition event in Birmingham.

With his team, Neil was presented with the prestigious Harold Wright award in recognition of his service to material handling.

As a leading voice in the industry, Neil has been a lifelong ambassador for conveyor chain engineering and the benefits that it brings to modern manufacturing systems and processing.

His family business Chain + Conveyor Ltd has been operating from its base on Winterbottom Lane in Mere since 1972.

The company designs and supplies chain and conveyor components that are shipped all over the world for installation in a broad range of industries.

Neil said: “I was so surprised to win the award, but equally pleased too.

“It's a real honour to be recognised in this way by my peers and for getting an award for doing what I genuinely love doing.“

Neil is an active member of the Mere community, a former parish councillor, choir member and keen golfer.
