RECKLESS drivers caught speeding have been slammed by police.

A speed enforcement operation on Mereside Road clocked one driver racing along at 44mph in a 30mph zone.

Altogether, police officers caught 22 vehicles speeding on Monday.

Knutsford Police warned drivers of ‘catastrophic’ consequences.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “A speeding enforcement operation was carried out and 22 vehicles were caught speeding on Mereside Road in Knutsford.

“The fastest speed was 44mph on a 30mph zone.
