A FESTIVE pop-up shop has returned to help people support their favourite good causes.

For more than 50 years, Charity Christmas Card Shops have raised more than six million pounds for local and national charities.

This year, the volunteer-run shops will once again give 100 per cent of card sales to more than 35 charities, supporting health, children, medical research and animals.

Founded in 1971, the Christmas Card Shops have raised more than £6 million.

Each charity represented in the shops provides volunteers to help operate the shop, with all proceeds from their sales going directly back to support their important work in the community.

A shop has already started trading in Wilmslow library and will be there until December 9.

Another shop opens in Knutsford library from November 2 and runs until December 9.

A wide selection of Christmas cards, wrapping paper, tags, and other festive gifts and novelties will be available.

Founder Sheila Hallas MBE, said: “The Combined Charities Christmas Card Shops are a fixture of the community and embody the spirit of giving during the holidays.

“For decades, residents have supported their favourite causes simply by purchasing greeting cards and gifts.

“Thanks to the generosity of our customers and volunteers, we have been able to raise millions of pounds for local charities and make a meaningful impact.”

Representatives of 35 charities supported by the shops recently attended an AGM.

As well as reviewing last year’s activities, exciting plans for this year’s shops in Wilmslow, Knutsford, Macclesfield and Sale libraries were announced.
