DRIVERS are being warned of disruption after a fuel spillage caused an M56 slip road to close.
Eastbound traffic can’t exit the motorway at junction seven, Bowden Island, for Knutsford and Altrincham.
The link road between the two roundabout connecting the A556 and A56 is also closed.
The junction remains open for westbound traffic, but only for connection with the A556.
A spokesman for North West Motorway Police said: “National Highways are dealing with a fuel spillage at Bowden Island off M56.
"The exit slip road at junction seven eastbound is closed.
"The slip road at junction seven westbound is open, but only on to the A556 towards the M6.
"Traffic cannot come off at the roundabout.
"Also the link between the two roundabouts is closed."
