A MARATHON effort to help thousands of children enjoy a visit to a unique farm near Lymm takes place next week.

And you could help.

The Children's Adventure Farm Trust sits in beautiful countryside in Millington on the outskirts of Knutsford.

It provides days out and short breaks and holidays for thousands of children and their families from Cheshire and across the wider north west. Some have disabilities, others come from homes or backgrounds where the cost of living crisis means days out or holidays are impossible.

This year the charity is aiming to provide a record breaking 18,500 visits for these young people.

So a new fundraising project will take place during the coming week.

A spokesman said: "We have created a new fundraising project for October 2023 with the community at heart. £24k in 24 hours is an opportunity for us to raise enough money to support 2,000 children to come for a half day visit to CAFT.

"That’s where you can come in!

"We are asking local companies, clubs, schools, colleges, community groups and more, if they might be able to fundraise for CAFT one day in the week leading up to Friday, October 6.

"Whether it be a cake sale, a book swap, a raffle, or a sponsored activity, we are hoping everyone will be creative in their ideas, to help us raise much needed funds to enable more children to visit CAFT.

"All contributions, no matter the size will then make a big difference to our ‘CAFT Totaliser’ on October 6."

The facilities and activites at CAFT are incredible.

Children get to experience an incredible array of activities from arts and crafts, to walking alpacas or feeding sheep.

There is an aviary to walk through and duck pond.

The highlight though is the woodland trail.

It comes complete with a pirate ship for play and various forest school activities including camp fires and themed things to try. The summer was devoted to the circus and autumn is pirates.

In November and December it is turned into a magical Christmas grotto.

The farm has accomodation for schools and families to stay in, with food and drink coming as part of the package.

All of this of course requires and incredible fundraising effort so as many children as possible can benefit from this truly unique place.
