A CARAVAN has been set on fire in broad daylight.
Firefighters were called to Wilmslow this afternoon (August 30) following reports of smoke emerging from a woodland.
Following an "extensive" search a caravan was found "engulfed in flames" at around 3.17pm.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to reports of smoke coming from a fields and woodland.
"After an extensive search for the fire alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester, they found a caravan engulfed in flames.
"A hose reel water jet was used to extinguish the fire, which is believed have been started deliberately."
One CFRS fire engine from the Wilmslow station was joined at the scene, off Knutsford Road, by a crew from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
