A PASSION for local ales has inspired the mayor of Knutsford to launch a special charity event.

Cllr Peter Coan is hosting a beer tasting evening at Dexter and Jones craft beer and artisan gin specialists on Princess Street.

The celebrity bar is run by former Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt and wife Katy, a Good Morning Britain news presenter.

The mayor is inviting people to join him for an evening of sours, stouts and sharing platters.

Guests will have the opportunity to try five different beers in a guided tasting.

The event takes place on Thursday, October 5 at 7pm and will be raising money for two local charities.

Cllr Coan said: “This is set to be a great event, with the opportunity to try some interesting and unique beers in a brilliant local venue, and even better that we get to raise some money for local charities.”

This year, the mayor’s charities will continue to support plans to develop a Knutsford Men’s Shed, a community space for men to connect, converse and create.

The second charity is Knutsford GROW, which brings together two groups of people for mutual benefit.

Volunteers provide gardening services for people not able to tend their own gardens and providing opportunities for volunteers to deliver a community service.

Tickets are £20 and include five beer tasters and a sharing platter.
