A CHILDHOOD dream has come true for a village schoolgirl.

Beth Ralston has been involved in Mobberley Rose Queen since she was three.

The 13-year-old Holmes Chapel Comprehensive student was crowned queen at this year’s festival.

Ladies in waiting Pippa Rawlinson and Rosalie Tarne accompanied her in a carriage at the annual pageant.

Hundreds turned out to watch lots of floats process through the village.

The brownies won top prize for their Calypso themed display.

Rode Hall Silver Band accompanied the parade as it processed through the streets and assembled on the field at Hallbank.

Local businesses had stalls and there was plenty of food, drink and entertainment.

The festival was founded 101 years ago by Lily Green, when she was 15.

She was a telegraph girl at the old Mobberley Post Office when she came across a group of girls crying because they couldn’t go to Knutsford May Day.

Lily decided her village should have its own celebration and the rest is history.

New lighter boards were unveiled for the first time for dancers after a Crowdfunding page raised money.

Organisers say a different stage and seating were also hired which worked well.

The committee wishes to thank dance teacher Joy Parkes for all her dedication as she prepares to step down after 28 years.
