Goostrey Open Gardens 2023 has been hailed a huge success after raising a record sum.
Gardeners celebrated their achievement at a thank you party and ceremonial cheque handover, hosted by the organisers.
This major fundraising event for East Cheshire Hospice on June 11 raised more than £16,000, a significant increase on last year’s total of £10,000.

Organiser Clare Downing said: “We were absolutely delighted with this total, with well over 800 ticket holders visiting the 15 gardens this year- up 50 per cent on the previous year.
“Everyone commented on what a happy, friendly event it was, with the host gardeners freely offering advice and providing inspiration for gardens of all shapes and sizes.
“The sun shone throughout the day, everybody put on their best shorts and summer dresses and seemed to enjoy every moment, in spite of the fierce heat.”
Many gardeners hosted their own mini events, demonstrations and sold refreshments to support the hospice.
Fellow organiser Felicity Capey said: “Thank you again to everyone who bought a ticket for this amazing charity.
“We are now in search mode for more new Goostrey gardens for next year’s event on Sunday, June 9, 2024.”
