Goostrey Open Gardens returns on Sunday, June 11, from 11am to 5pm.

The inaugural event last year was hailed a huge success.

Volunteers raised more than £10,000 for East Cheshire Hospice and hope to boost the charity’s funds further after adding new gardens, not shown to the public before.

Joint organizer Clare Downing said: “An idea formed out of lockdown when everyone spent so much time sprucing up their gardens and realizing the value of their outdoor space.

“It has evolved into a lovely opportunity to meander around gardens of all shapes, sizes and styles.

“For those who visited last year, we are introducing 15 new gardens to visit this year.”

Plenty of mini events promise something for all ages.

Afternoon teas, herb talks, a Goostrey Flower Club installation, ice creams, jewellery and greeting card sales are among the many attractions.

An i-spy for children will be in each garden.

Plants will also be on sale.

Clare said: “We are so grateful for the amazing generosity shown so far.

“Some 400 tickets had already been sold.”

Admission is £12 for adults with accompanied children visiting free of charge.

Visitors will receive a brochure with a map and a brief description of all the gardens.

“We recommend that you walk or cycle between the gardens,” said Clare.

“Please wear sensible shoes and hopefully some sun protection.”

Only guide dogs are allowed in the gardens.

Tickets are available from eastcheshirehospice.org.uk/events/goostrey-open-gardens-2023.

The Trading Post on Booth Bed Lane and Goostrey Mini Mart on Main Road are also selling tickets.
