A TEENAGE schoolboy crowned Knutsford May Day Queen a week after his dad watched King Charles become sovereign.

Knutsford Academy student Toby Hui was thrilled to be this year’s crown bearer.

The 14-year-old musician said he was honoured to crown Amelie McGill Anglin at a ceremony on The Heath on Saturday.

“I’ve been in the Royal May Day court since I was six and before that I was a sailor,” said Toby, who wore a kilt for his ceremonial duty.

“I’ve had many interesting roles but I think this one takes the crown!

“I’ve been looking forward to being the Crown Bearer and doing this in the same year as King Charles’ big crowning.”

His dad, Billy, was an invited guest at the Coronation in Westminster Abbey.

The BBC Radio Merseyside presenter and musician was awarded the BEM in the Queen’s New Year Honours in 2021.

Billy said: “I have raised loads of money for charity and was honoured to be invited to the Abbey.

"I sat beside the Poet Laureate Simon Armitage.

“The most moving part was when the crowns were bring brought in.

“It’s incredible that I was at the Coronation just a week before Toby crowned the May Queen.

“This year will be really special for both of us.”
