A BUSY new summer season is up and running at High Legh Tennis Club.

The place is reported to be thriving and free coaching has been structured into the weekly schedule.

Holiday camps are included in the year’s offering and private lessons are available too.

The experienced High Legh Tennis Club coaching team offer a comprehensive coaching programme, including group sessions and one-to-one individual lessons catering for tennis players of all ages and abilities under the supervision of Emma Silcock, the club’s head of tennis.

A popular junior coaching programme, dividing into four age groups, features more than 100 players each week.

The group lesson courses enable juniors to learn all the techniques and tactics needed to improve their game in addition to learning the rules of tennis.

Weekly programme, by school years: Years 1 and 2: Tuesday 3.45pm-4.30pm and/or Saturday 9am-10am Years 3,4 and 5: Wednesday 4pm-5pm and/or Saturday 10am-11am Years 5&6: Wednesday 5pm-6pm and/or Friday 5.30pm-6.30pm and/or Saturday 11am-1pm Year 7 onwards: Wednesday 5pm-6pm, Friday 5.30pm-6.30pm and Saturday 11am-1pm Meanwhile, due to an increase in adult membership and demand, High Legh are now offering a new adult tennis experience: Monday: Open play (all members social play), 6pm onwards Tuesday: Women’s match night, 6.30pm onwards Wednesday: Free coaching session 7pm-8pm, followed by adult club night Thursday: Men’s match night, 6.30pm onwards Friday: Beginners and intermediate 9.30am-11am Three experienced coaches are available for coaching individuals throughout the week.

The first tennis camps of the season have started over Easter with more to come as the year progresses.

These are aimed at all junior members from four-years-old through to 16-years-old, focusing on all abilities of players and tailoring for specific age groups.

Camp dates: April 11-14, April 17, May half term, May 30-June 2 and then week commencing July 10 throughout summer until school returns in September.
