In a post on social media, officers said: “The vehicles were causing unnecessary obstruction to pedestrians, prams and wheelchair users.”
The move was welcomed by mums and residents.
One woman said: “It is really tricky when pushing a pram or a wheelchair so would appreciate having the paths back.”
A man said: “Fantastic. Please do more of this in the rest of town. People block pavements when there is plenty of room on the road.”
