DRIVERS blocking pavements have been fined as police crack down on illegal parking.

Officers issued 32 tickets to vehicles on Cliff Road in Wilmslow on Sunday.

Knutsford police also handed out a number of fixed penalty notices to drivers on the Longridge estate, after receiving complaints from residents.

In a post on social media, officers said: “The vehicles were causing unnecessary obstruction to pedestrians, prams and wheelchair users.”

The move was welcomed by mums and residents.

One woman said: “It is really tricky when pushing a pram or a wheelchair so would appreciate having the paths back.”

A man said: “Fantastic. Please do more of this in the rest of town. People block pavements when there is plenty of room on the road.”
