An internal door bolt prevented offenders from stealing anything.

Police believe the pair may have had their eyes on a VW Golf.

Offenders were disturbed forcing their way into a house on Victoria Road at around 9pm on Friday, March 24.

Detectives suspect the intruders were after a Mercedes.

Police warn drivers to keep car keys and the spare well away from the car and avoid leaving near doors or windows.

Anyone with a car that opens without a key should keep keys in a screened tin, box or bag to disrupt the communication range.

Police are appealing for any information or video footage which may help their investigations.

Anyone able to help should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML1509149 for the Newlands Drive burglary and IML1508105 for the Victoria Road incident.
