THERE have been delays for those travelling between Manchester and Crewe by train this morning after concerns for the welfare of a person in Holmes Chapel.
British Transport Police confirmed that earlier this morning, Tuesday, at around 6am, officers were called to Holmes Chapel following concerns for a person in a ‘precarious position’.
Shortly afterwards, they announced the person had been taken to a ‘place of safety’ and train lines had reopened.
A statement read: “Officers are currently at Holmes Chapel following concerns for the welfare of a person in a precarious position.
“There may be some disruption to journeys between Manchester and Crewe this morning - so please check before travelling.
“This person has now been taken to a place of safety and lines are reopening.
“Please do continue to check before travelling, as there may be some ongoing disruption.”
Northern Rail also posted an update on social media earlier this morning to warn passengers of delays due to an emergency services incident between Crewe and Alderley Edge - the company confirmed services are now running.
