A POPULAR dance show full of top 10 hits is making a comeback.

Theatre company TEMPO (The Edge Musical Performing Organisation) is reviving Footloose the musical.

This 1998 musical, based on a film of the same name first screened in 1984, will be performed in Wilmslow next month.

Footloose is high energy, singing and dancing show full of top 10 hits.

Set in a small town in USA in the 1980s, it tells the story of dance loving Ren McCormack.

He moves from Chicago to the southern town of Bomont where public dancing and loud music are banned for young people.

Ren soon wins over the hearts of his new friends and the community and they come together to bring dancing and music back to the town for everyone to enjoy once more.

Alison Bisset, TEMPO’s chairman said: “All of our cast have thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing for Footloose this year.

“They can’t wait till opening night, the excitement is really building.

“I am sure our audiences will love Footloose it as much as they will love performing it, so why not cut loose, kick off your Sunday shoes and enjoy the show.”

The soundtrack recording reached No1 in the USA charts generating hits including its title song and ‘Let’s Hear It for The Boy’.

Footloose opened on Broadway in 1988, followed by a UK tour and a West End Run.

In 2011, Footloose the film was remade bringing this heart-warming story to a new generation.

Footloose the Musical will be at the Evans Theatre, Wilmslow Leisure Centre from March 21 to March 25.

Performances are at 7.30pm with a matinee on Saturday, March 25 at 2.30pm.
