CHESHIRE East clawed in more than £16,000 in fines last year from drivers parked on King Street in Knutsford - making it the most ticketed street in the borough.

Figures released following a freedom of information request reveal nearly one third of the 495 tickets issued were to motorists who parked in a designated disabled persons parking space without displaying a valid badge.

In total drivers were fined £16,576 for parking violations on that one street during the financial year 2021/22.

The highest number of fines – 180 – was handed out to motorists who parked for longer than the permitted time.

As well as the 159 people parking in disabled spaces, 152 tickets were handed out to drivers for parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours, two went to people who parked or were loading or unloading in a street where waiting and loading/unloading restrictions are in force.

One driver was fined for returning to park again in the same parking space after leaving  and one was fined for not parking correctly within the markings of a bay.
