This past year has been another challenging one both at home and abroad.

As a nation we mourned the loss of our beloved Queen and celebrated the success of our Lionesses as they won the European championships.

Our hearts remain with Ukraine and its people as it continues to be subjected to unjustifiable and unprovoked attacks by Russia.

Many reached out and opened up their home, including many across Tatton, to help Ukrainian families fleeing the conflict.

None of us can escape the fallout of lockdown and it has been a particularly turbulent time politically.

I am pleased our new Prime Minister is delivering some much needed stability to get us through these tough times.

The cost of living crisis - impacted by global issues and soaring energy prices – is affecting both households and businesses and is undoubtedly the biggest issue facing our country right now.

Here in Tatton, this past year my work as your MP returned to a more normal pattern with less online meetings and more in person events following the lifting of all Covid restrictions.

I have enjoyed many visits to businesses, charities, and schools, including many primary schools as part of Parliament Week, and I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing people in person once more.

In recent months I have re-started community coffee mornings whereby I get to meet many constituents I may otherwise not see.

I have raised many local matters in Parliament, including problems with Avanti, HS2, broadband coverage, care workers and support with social care, farming and called for a new Winnington Bridge.

Just days ago, we had the good news that government had rejected proposals to increase burning capacity at Lostock Works incinerator in Rudheath.

Work is always going on behind the scenes on local issues and that will continue both here at home and in Westminster.

This past 12 months there has been more than 8,000 new pieces of casework and we have successfully helped constituents with an array of matters from planning to housing, passports to driving licences, care to health matters.

In addition, we had 20,000 emails from constituents on issues including energy support to immigration and the Ukraine.

Our communities genuinely care for each other and as one year ends and another is upon us, let’s all take time to check on our neighbours, as while for many it is a joyous time, for others it can be an extremely difficult time of the year.

I look forward to seeing you in the New Year and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and if I can help in any way, please do get in touch on officeofesthermcveymp@parliament.uk
