STAGESTRUCK children have won support for their new 2023 show.

Wilmslow Town Council has award a £2,000 community grant to TEMPO, The Edge Musical Production Organisation, formerly SCAMPS.

This award-winning youth theatre group and registered charity gives young people the chance to perform musical theatre shows, as close as possible to a professional event.

Children enhance their singing and dancing skills whilst learning team work and developing self-confidence.

The group was founded in 1982 and rehearses in Alderley Edge with children aged 10 to 20.

Their next production Footloose will be staged at The Evans Theatre in Wilmslow from March 21-25 next year.

Cllr Frank McCarthy, chairman of Wilmslow Town Council, said: “These shows both enable local children taking part to acquire new skills and experience, in addition to allowing the community to experience high quality shows on their doorstep.”

The donation will help cover rental costs for the show.

It follows the council’s recent sponsorship of A Christmas Carol by Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company and Beauty and the Beast by CHYPS Pantomime.
