DEDICATED volunteers have been praised for helping to make the 2022 Covid jab roll out such a success.

A huge logistics operation has enabled 50,000 patients to be immunised by Knutsford Medical Partnership this year.

It has been the largest community project Knutsford Rotary has ever undertaken.

A team of marshalls ensured that every patient received a warm welcome and was guided through the vaccination process.

An army of volunteers took part in four separate programmes throughout the year at Knutsford Community Hospital.

The last doses have just been completed.

In the latest autumn programme, more than 8,500 Covid vaccines and 4,500 flu jabs have been administered to older and more vulnerable residents.

The painstaking operation ran like clockwork as helpers worked through more than 48 two-hour shifts.

Even bad weather failed to dampen spirits as many volunteers offered to do extra hours when their shift finished.

The team erected signs, directed cars to the right places and controlled the flow of patients into the hospital, ensuring everyone had hand gel and wore masks.

Tony Booth, president of Knutsford Rotary Club, said: “We could not have done that without huge support from more than 140 individuals who put their name forward for marshalling duty and put in almost 350 hours of marshalling.

“Volunteer marshals came forward, not just from Rotary, but also from other Knutsford groups including Knutsford Hosts, Catenians, previous volunteers with We Are Knutsford, and many who just offered.

“It was humbling to witness this level of volunteer support and a great example of working together to support the local community.

“I wish to thank all those who offered to help and wish them a happy Christmas, you’ve certainly earned it.”
