VOLUNTEERS teamed up to collect litter dumped in an ancient woodland.

Friends of St John’s Wood removed bags of rubbish, refuse and various other discarded household items.

Around 25 people aged from seven to 70 joined in the autumn litter pick on Sunday.

Young volunteers Luis Malloy, William Flynn and Adam Malloy found a flat screen television dumped in the woods.

Four collection points were set up at Boothfields, Overfields, Helena Close and Longridge.

The charity was founded by Cathryn Walley and fellow trustees and supported by Knutsford Town Council to protect and improve St John’s Wood and St Helena’s Church.

Ansa collected all the bin bags and rubbish on Monday.

Treasurer Geraint Samuels said: “Thank you to all our long standing supporters and our new volunteers who joined us on Sunday despite the rain.”

This is the group’s fifth litter pick.
