A CHRISTMAS Carol is one of the most iconic festive stories ever told – and a musical theatre company is bringing the classic tale to Wilmslow later this month.

For their first major show since 2019, members of Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre company are bringing Dickensian London to Cheshire - complete with ghosts, ghouls and the iconic Ebeneezer Scrooge.

The Broadway Musical of A Christmas Carol is the perfect way to start the festive season.

But the cast and crew are also putting their own spin on the musical.

Director Andrew Lee, graduate of Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London, said: "We're putting on a unique version that takes the greatest story ever told back to its dark roots.

“I've loved directing it. I've felt a sense of freedom with it.

“We've been able to try stuff out and see what works, and everything we've done we've built together.

“The cast are fantastic like that - always willing to try things, and equally willing to try something totally different if that doesn't work.

“There's a real togetherness in the group. I think we've found such a good mixture of people here."

With a full orchestra behind him, musical director Ed Nurse brings the music to life along with the incredibly talented vocals of the cast.

"The score is by Menken, my favourite composer,” he said.

“He creates such stories in his music - it's a pleasure to play."

And slowly, with the help of four spooky spectres, he realises the error of his ways, and discovers the joys of Christmas… finally!
