FILM crews transformed a Cheshire village into the setting for a fictional series about a government facing subterfuge from within its own party.
The Sky TV drama Cobra has been filming scenes for the third season of this hit series in Lower Peover, near Knutsford.
Trainspotting and Full Monty actor Robert Carlyle returns as Tory Prime Minister Robert Sutherland in the latest show expected to debut on Sky Max in 2023.
Lower Peover Parish Council posted on social media: "You may have noticed filming this week as Lower Peover becomes Godley Common in a Sky drama Cobra and it continues into the night."
The drama, created and written by Ben Richards, looks at what happens when cyber attacks on critical infrastructure and fake news are used to subvert democracy.
In a social media post, Lower Peover Parish Council said the area around Lower Peover Primary School became the fictional Godley Common.
The village school, dating back to 1865, was renamed Godley Common Primary School.
The nursery on the cobbles was turned into a Post Office.
A home connected to the school became a bar.
Big lights and cameras were set up around Brooke Lane on Tuesday as shooting went on into the night.
Police were at the scene as roads were closed off to allow filming.

The phrase referring to the room has become shorthand for any convening of the Civil Contingencies Committee to handle major disruptions or crises.
A synopsis shared by Sky for the third series said: “In Cobra:Rebellion, we find Prime Minister Robert Sutherland and his government faced with a new crisis – a sinister rebellion from within.
“In a fraught climate where extreme eco-protests, arms deals and shadow corporate security firms collide, Sutherland is forced to question everything, including what he is willing to sacrifice to remain in power.”
Existing characters are expected to return for the third series.
Victoria Hamilton, from The Crown, plays Anna Marshall, Downing Street chief of staff.
Lucy Cohu, from Torchwood, plays the PM’s wife Rachel Sutherland.
Richard Dormer, from Game of Thrones, is Fraser Walker, the director of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat.
David Haig, from Killing Eve, plays the bordering on nationalist arch-conservative Archie Glover-Morgan, who was Home Secretary in season one.
Edward Bennett, from Poldark, Marsha Thomason, from The Bay and Lisa Palfrey, from Sex Education, are expected to reprise their roles as well.
