KNUTSFORD FC will commence one cup campaign this Saturday after getting another off to a decent start last weekend.

Reds, weather permitting, are scheduled to host Bollington United in the Cheshire Amateur Cup at Manchester Road, kick-off 2pm.

They will do so on the back of a 5-1 home win against Winsford Saxons in Mid Cheshire District Cup Group One.

With several players unavailable, Reds manager Nick Ward fielded a changed side.

They should have probably led by three or four goals at the break but failed to finish most of their chances

Knutsford were much better in the second half to run out comfortable winners.

It was, in fact, their first game in this competition, having changed allegiance from the Altrincham District Cup which they had won eight times.

The first half was fairly open, with Knutsford showing themselves to be the better footballing side.

Against the run of play, Mundy broke forward and finished well for Saxons on 16 minutes.

From their umpteenth corner, the ball broke to the edge of the box for Summerbee to fire home and level matters after 23 minutes.

Winsford offered a reminder that they still meant business when hitting the crossbar.

The second half was poor in terms of quality, but Winsford faded.

Summerbee bagged his second goal on 47 minutes after the Winsford keeper fumbled a cross.

It was from another cross that Bibby finished well from inside the six-yard area on 66 minutes.

Knutsford continued to press and reaped the rewards.

Bibby sealed the game with his second strike on 75 minutes after a sharp turn and spin in the box.

And then Law completed the scoring nine minutes later.

It was not a classic but four games unbeaten and winning at home shows the progress being made as Knutsford re-build.

Knutsford: Simpson, Preston Simpson (Hawley D.), Morgan, Cavanagh, Kennedy, Hawley T (Law), Bowey, Spencer (Naylor), Bibby, Summerbee.
