THE new Knutsford and District Amateur Snooker League winter season started with some fantastic matches and eye-catching performances from both teams and indviduals.
Wilmslow Cons A defeated Mere C in a tight season opener that finished 4-3 Tuesday.
Across the league there were an encouraging six debutants and Wilmslow A fielded three of those.
Shaw Heath's title defence got off to a rocky start, going down 5-2 to an impressive Mere A.
Last year's runners up Morley Green were also involved in a tough battle but they managed to emerge victorious with a 4-3 win over Tatton C, helped by a 30 break from Graham Walls.
Summer league winners Tatton A look set to challenge for honours again with a fine 6-1 victory in their derby match against Tatton B.
Elsewhere, Mobberley A began with a strong 5-2 win against their C team.
Mark Newall scored 115 points and had breaks of 39, 34 and 30 in his frame.
Wilmslow Cons B also started in style with a 5-2 victory against Mobberley B.
Wilmslow's Laughlin Anderson impressed with a 103 point score and debutant Jason Lawrence announced himself to the KADASL with a brilliant 113 point frame, which included a 40 break.
