A NEW look Post Office has been given a facelift and will now be open seven days a week.

The modernised branch, operated by Knutsford Co-op, will share the same hours as the store on Princess Street.

Craig Barnes, Co-op area manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to modernise and improve our Post Office services.

The three main counters are open Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5.30pm.

The Post Office counter alongside the retail counter, which offers a limited service, is open Monday to Sunday, from 7am to 10pm.

It is hoped the extended hours will help to meet the growing needs of the community, especially everyday banking including cash withdrawals and deposits as there are no longer any banks in the town.

Martin Kearsley, banking director at Post Office, said: “Post Offices across the UK continue to handle well over £3 billion each month which demonstrates just how vital being able to deposit and withdraw cash, securely and conveniently, is for millions of people.

“Many people will be budgeting now for further financial pressures expected in the autumn.

“Using cash to budget has been tried and tested for hundreds of years.”

A new Post Office poll has found that one in five UK consumers will use cash instead of card payments to help with budgeting in light of the rising cost of living.

People choose to control their household budgets by spending only what they physically have in their hands.

Money can be withdrawn from the Post Office counters as well as the ATM in the store.

The Co-op has also pledged to support access to cash in its stores with commitments to prevent communities from becoming cash deserts.

Cash withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries can be made securely and conveniently over the counter at any Post Office on behalf of all the high street banks.

Some 99 per cent of UK bank customers can access their accounts at their Post Office.

Knutsford Post Office also offers a wide range of other services including mail, home shopping returns, MoneyGram, travel money, passport check and send and international driving permits.
