King's School is celebrating their best set of independently assessed A level results since 2014.

Some 52 per cent of all grades were A* or A, with 84 per cent at A* to B and 95 per cent at A* to C.

More than a third of students achieved an A* in at least one subject with a third also achieving AAA or better.

Some 77 per cent will now go up to their first choice of university.

King's head of foundation Jason Slack said: "I'm extremely proud of our students who have been exceptional in their work ethic to gain success in their A levels despite the disruption to their studies in the last two years.

“Coping with uncertainty over how grades would be awarded from one year to the next and the confusion over what might be included in exams has required tenacity and patience.

"This has been an amazing year group and we are immensely proud of their achievements.

“They are leaving us with the confidence, skills and academic achievements to join the best universities across the country.

“Some have chosen equally exciting apprenticeships and we wish them all the very best for their future success."
