A MAN caught using a mobile phone behind the wheel has been banned from driving.

Daren Jordan, of Goostrey, was caught using a hand-held phone whilst driving an Audi on Alderley Road on December 12, last year.

The 55-year-old denied the offence but was found guilty after Chester magistrates heard evidence on August 4.

The case was proved in his absence.

Jordan was fined £300 and ordered to pay £110 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Magistrates disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driving licence for two weeks.

The defendant was given until August 31 to pay the £444 court penalty.
