A CELEBRITY TV presenter is supporting a charity auction in Knutsford.

Alan Partridge, who appears on Bargain Hunt and Flog It! will be bringing down the hammer at a unique event.

Knutsford Homes for Ukraine, which has vowed to provide a sanctuary for families escaping the war-torn country, is holding its first silent auction and charity raffle.

This community group hopes to raise around £16,000 to provide a furnished home for refugees for a year.

The auction is being held at the award winning Lambing Shed farm shop and café with canapes and wine at 7pm on Thursday, June 30.

Bob Marshall, a spokesman for the group, said: “We are really privileged to have Adam dropping the hammer on our special evening.

“We have a rare opportunity to auction some exclusive artwork by renowned artist Jacob Sutton, of farm animals, flowers and landscapes.

“All the artwork has been kindly donated by Jacob to help us raise funds to house Ukrainian refugees in Knutsford.”

In 2001, Jacob went to live in Afghanistan and spent three years making a portfolio of charcoal drawings depicting everyday life in war-torn Kabul.

This gifted artist also drew portraits of some of the poorest Afghan people living in remote villages and towns.

From 2006-2007, Jacob was official artist to 10 Downing Street.

In 2009, he was The Sunday Times artist in residence at the Oxford Literary Festival and for the Guardian at the Hay on Wye Literary Festival.

Jacob continues to travel and draw portraits.

John D James, a versatile piano vocalist, will be performing music spanning the decades at the event.

A selection of signed memorabilia from Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City is also available for online bids, which close on July 8, 2022.
