A FEW minor hitches did nothing to dampen the wedding day spirit for Kerri and Natasha as they tied the knot at The Park Royal Hotel in Stretton.

The couple, who have been together for nearly four years, met at work and were joined by 50 friends and family at their wedding ceremony – including one unexpected arrival, who decided to make an early appearance for his aunties’ special day.

Kerri Mather, who is 26, and 28-year-old Natasha Clarke, live in Bewsey and here they share their wedding day story.

When and how did you meet?

Kerri: We met in work when we both worked for Scottish Power in December 2017.

What did you think of each other when you first met?

Kerri: I was a manager and Natasha had just joined the company. We became friends when she joined my team in the January 2018.

Where and when did you get engaged?

Kerri: We got engaged on September 23, 2020, exactly two years after getting in a relationship on our first holiday away in Antalya, Turkey. We managed to get away mid covid and I proposed on the beach at sunset. She had no idea and was completely shocked.

What was the date of the wedding and reception?

Natasha: March 26, 2022.

What’s location of the wedding and reception?

Natasha: The Park Royal Hotel, Appleton.

How were you feeling on the morning of your wedding?

Kerri: I was full of excitement until I was all ready and waiting to be escorted downstairs. The wait was around half an hour but it felt like hours. Me and my bridal party ended up drinking more than we should have by the time we were collected to go downstairs. I was tipsy but drunk from excitement and nerves!

Natasha: I was nervous but excited. It was all very surreal and emotional and I thought I was running late, which added to the intensity of the morning.

How would you describe your wedding?

Kerri: It was perfect. There were little details that we forgot to do and my name was spelt wrong on a couple of the signs but it really didn’t matter. Everything we had worried about just melted away and in the end it went quickly. It was so lovely and really emotional having all our beloved family and friends around us.

Natasha: I couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was amazing from start to finish and I just wish I could do it all again.

How many guests did you have?

Natasha: 50 in the day and 100 at night.

What did your guests eat?

Kerri: We had ham hock terrine for starter, then beef boudin with creamy mash and roasted veg, then chocolate orange tort for dessert. There were steak ciabattas and pulled pork baguettes for the evening guests.

Did you have a first dance?

Natasha: It was Matt Cooper’s Ain’t Met Us Yet. No one had really heard of it but we loved the lyrics and the film references within the lyrics. It’s just a really beautiful, romantic song and it was very emotional when our friends and family joined the dance floor.

How did the speeches go?

Kerri: Our best man Josh, maid of honour Meg and I did a speech. They weren’t too long but heartfelt and funny. Meg referenced the first time she had met Tash and she had no money with her. Tash had bought her a bacon butty. She also spoke about the friendship we all share. Josh is my longest friend and spoke about our friendship and how he’d never have thought he’d be best man at my wedding, which sounds cliched, but we actually hated each other when we first met. My speech was short, referencing how beautiful Tash looked and included a shout out to my main girl, Ruby our dog, who couldn’t have joined us at the wedding as I’d have worried about her all day.

What are your favourite memories of the day?

Kerri: Our first dance. I loved our connection and the song we choose but when our loved ones joined us on the dance floor it was surreal and overwhelming. Tears were shed. It was so amazing being surrounded by so much love and emotion.

Natasha: Definitely the first dance. Meg our maid of honour was in tears when she joined us and we all shared our first dance with everyone we love. It was one of those special moments you can only dream about.

Tell us a little bit about your outfits on the day?

Kerri: We both wore dresses, although everyone though Tash would wear a suit so everyone loved our outfits even more. I only tried on about six dresses but hated them all. It was only when the lady said she had a wild card that she thought I’d love that I tried mine on. It was a strapless A-line style that was full of sparkles and I felt like a real princess.

Tash: I tried on eight dresses before getting that wow moment with the dress I chose. It was a princess dress with lace and a v neckline. I was actually surprised to see it was bigger than Kerri’s dress, as she’s the princess out of the two of us!

Did you have a honeymoon?

Kerri: We went to Turkey. Back to the same strip and beach where we got engaged but at a different hotel. Lara Beach Antalya this time.

Why did you want to get married?

Kerri: I knew I had found my one. I knew there was no one more suited for me. We share the same sense of humour and I know I can rely on her no matter what. I couldn’t see anyone else and she cares and devotes on me every day. I knew I had to marry someone that always does all the dishes and takes the bins out!

Natasha: Kerri makes me feel safe, like I’m the only person that matters. I wanted to show the world how committed I am to her. We both love travelling and adventures, as well as a cosy night in. Friends are a massive part of our lives and we both love socialising and spending time with the most important people in our lives.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us about your day?

Kerri: Tash loves Miley Cyrus so we had to incorporate her somewhere in our wedding. We chose a song for the violinist to play as we signed the register, When I Look At You. We also had a magician while everyone had their welcome drinks which went down really well.

Natasha: We had karaoke at our evening reception, where people sang Bon Jovi and Meatloaf. The weather was gorgeous. We got really lucky with a mini heatwave for the day, although we were boiling in our dresses. Our nephew, my brother’s baby, was due four days after our wedding but arrived two weeks early so he was able to be part of our day and appears in the photos!
