A COMMUNITY came together to celebrate as its Rose Queen fete returned after a Covid-enforced hiatus.
The Whitley Rose Queen Fete took place on Saturday, June 18, where Mollie Edwards Barnard was crowned.
A procession, led by the Frodsham Silver Band and featuring the incoming and outgoing Rose Queen retinues, kicked off the afternoon's proceedings.
Also involved in the procession were Whitley Pre School children, all in fancy dress on a float pulled by a vintage tractor, children and teachers at Whitley Village School and a host of vintage cars.
Rose Queen fete chairman Robert Houghton opened the ceremony at the village hall, with the crowning ceremony completed by Judy Heavey.
A fancy dress competition also took place on the day, while the crowd was entertained with songs and dances from the Whitley Village School children.
The afternoon continued with a performance from the Dyas Lishman Dance Academy, a Tug O’ War challenge, a barbecue, delicious cream teas, alpaca walking, a raffle and a tombola.
Mr Houghton said: “It was great to see everyone back together enjoying the community spirit of the Whitley Rose Queen Fete."
