
KNUTSFORD is home to a new British champion.
Former Knutsford Academy student Callum Grassby won the gold medal at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu British Open held at Warwick University.
The 18-year-old did so after defeating James Richter from the Rogers JiuJitsu Academy in Gosport, Hampshire, on points in the final.
His success came in the male Gi, purple belt, adult under 94.3kg division.
To reach the final Grassby achieved four wins, two by submission and two by points.
He was one of 13 members of Gracie Barra Warrington that won a British title over the weekend.Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport primarily based on ground fighting and submission holds after achieving takedowns.
