A BEER Festival and family fun day to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has been hailed a huge success.

Villagers teamed up to host the royal event at the hall at Marthall.

Children enjoyed games, face painting and a bouncy castle.

Afternoon tea launched the unique event and Wilmslow Brass Band played lots of of well known tunes.

A selection of local craft beer and cider was served and a barbecue offered burgers, hot dogs and vegetarian options.

Celebrations continued into the evening as Buzzard, a five-piece cover band provided an eclectic mix of songs from the 60s to the present day.

Neil Hanlon, one of the organisers, said: “We had a fantastic day with a huge turnout from the community.

“It was really great to see so many people in the Jubilee spirit.”

The event was organised by the hall management committee in conjunction with the parishes of Ollerton with Marthall, Little Warford, Snelson and All Saints Church, Marthall.
