FINAL preparations are being made for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Wilmslow.

A town crier will announce a specially written proclamation heralding the lighting of the beacons at 2pm on Thursday.

The lighting ceremony will be held at the Memorial Gardens near St Bartholomew’s Church in the evening.

Refreshments will be available.

A local piper will play Diu Regnare, a tune composed by world-renowned Piper Major Stuart Liddell.

Local buglers will herald the lighting of the beacon with a bugle call entitled Majesty.

The flare will be lit at 9.45pm alongside 2,022 beacons across the country and around the world.

On Saturday from 12 noon there will be two free events at Carrs Park.

A family fun day with food and drinks, crown making, a bouncy castle and animated film of The Queen’s Corgi, run until 5pm.

The BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace will be screened live on a big screen from 6pm to 10pm.

Queen and Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Ella Eyre, Craig David, Mabel, Elbow, George Ezra, Duran Duran, Andrea Bocelli, Mimi Webb, Sam Ryder, Jax Jones, Celeste, Nile Rodgers, Sigala and Diversity will be performing in the star-studded tribute to Her Majesty.

Free flags will be available.

The Platinum Jubilee Trail continues in the town centre until June 12.

This exciting interactive experience encourages children to visit storypoints, collect digital stamps and learn more about the Platinum Jubilee celebration.
