A MULTI-VEHICLE crash caused long delays on the M56 near Manchester Airport.
Two lanes have now reopened on the eastbound carriageway between junction seven at Bowdon and junction six at Wilmslow.
The incident happened in the roadworks area just before junction six near the A538 Wilmslow Road.
Emergency crews are still at the scene.
There was two miles of congestion but delays are easing.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
