A SENSATIONAL performance from Rob Jones has got Toft off the mark in the new ECB Premier Division season.

His 138 runs, following a century in the previous week's loss to Hyde, steered his side to a total too high for Chester Boughton Hall to haul in.

Toft ended their innings on 256, with Rohan Fernando the next best run maker with 38.

Jones' impact on the contest was not over though.

The all-rounder took 3-47 to go along with Jimmy Lomas' 4-30 as Chester were bowled out for 219 in the 46th over.

The previous week, Jones' 105 came in Toft's 214 total with the best support coming from Phil Raikes (28) and Ed Stubbs (45), but it proved not to be enough at home to Hyde on as Toft fell to a fourth successive loss.

However, Toft showed some fight in setting the target after finding themselves at 4-1, 8-2, 31-3 and 31-4 early in their innings which eventually ended in the 52nd over.

Hyde reached their required total in their 50th over, having lost only three wickets en route – two of which were taken by James Hodgson at the expense of 43 runs.
Luke Young proved to be a thorn in Toft’s side with 106 not out.
