A MAN has been arrested following an investigation into the import of illegal knives.

Police say a 57-year-old man was taken into custody at an address in High Legh and a quantity of knives was seized.

The man was detained on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

The man has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

PC Lawrence Price said: “As a result of this arrest, we have been able to remove a number of illegal knives that could have found their way onto the streets of Knutsford.

“This week we are involved in a number of activities to support Operation Sceptre

"This arrest is just a small snapshot of some of the work that we are doing to make Cheshire a safer place.

“I would urge anyone who knows where knives are being stored to please report it to the police and we will do the rest.”
