A GREAT season has just ended for Knutsford Rugby Club.

Achievements have not only been marked in trophies and league success.

For the first time in 11 years the club put out two senior teams, and the reformed second XV finished second in the league in their first year.

Success was also marked with three junior colts making senior debuts and a trio of the same family playing the last game of the season together – Steve Davies with his two sons Max and Lewis.

The second team also reached a cup final, and although they held the lead initially could not overcome a strong Anslemians team and finished runners up.

Knutsford's first XV completed their league campaign with a convincing win against Crewe & Nantwich, putting together some great attacking play built from the training sessions with coaches Chris Edmonds and Sale Sharks' Will Cliff.

Although they have climbed the league ranks in previous years the firsts finished fifth on the ladder, which is a great success with a rotation of 52 senior players throughout the season.

The junior side of the club has grown, enjoying great moments on and off the pitch with more than 250 children representing the club this season.

The junior campaign was rounded off perfectly with the under 15s lifting the Cheshire Bowl thanks to a convincing win against Macclesfield in the final.

Having been together from under sixes, the team have gone from strength to strength with 16 of the squad involved in the Sale Sharks development pathway.

The season came to a close with a family fun day in which all members were invited to join in inflatable rides, entertainment and even to torment coaches in the stocks.
