PRESENTATION night at Knutsford Hockey Club was an opportunity to not only reward the season's outstanding performers but to give recognition to unsung heroes too.

Tribute was paid to Tim Anderson, a former player who became treasurer for 25 years before stepping down in 2021.

And Simon Crabtree presented the chairman’s award to Norman Jamison, who in recent years has been involved with the Covid-19 rules and regulations for the club. He has also been membership secretary and has helped out with both senior and junior men's coaching.

The Mat Hodge first XI player-of-the-year honour went to Simon Adams, a stalwart at the back assisting the team to the league title by a mere point on the final day of the season.

Josh Comline received the second XI player-of-the-year award, while the Mathew Brooks Memorial Trophy for third XI player of the year went to junior Calum Goldsmith, who was also voted the players' player of the year by his teammates.

The Janice Charmer Trophy for the women's player of the year was handed to Sarah Evans, who has been with the team since its inception in 2000.

Other players' player awards went to Stuart Kenyon (first XI), Garry Sanderson (second XI) and Susie Hough (women's team).

The women's most improved player award was presented to Lois Pedlow.
