A BARBERSHOP has been shortlisted for a top national accolade.

Crate Cheshire is through to the final of the Barbershop/Grooming Salon of the Year title at HJ’s British Business Awards 2022.

The salon has two branches, one in Barons Quay, Northwich, and another in Minshull Street, Knutsford.

Partners Charles Rose, 28, and Alex Rose, 30, opened their first salon in 2018 and a second, three years later.

Crate Cheshire beat off tough competition last year to win the title of Best Grooming Salon/Barbershop of the Year 2021.

The couple relocated from London, where Charles managed a salon on Marylebone High Street.

Charles, who comes from a family of hairdressers, said: “We are thrilled to have made the finals of such a respected event.

“Barbershops and grooming is one of the fastest growing areas in hairdressing, so to be recognised at this level is mind-blowing.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a business this year.”

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the British Hairdressing Awards, said: “These awards are recognition of the standout people and businesses in the hairdressing industry, celebrating their talent, passion and commitment in making British hairdressing so revered.

“To make the Barbershop/Grooming Salon of the Year shortlist, finalists need to show excellence in all areas, from salon design and customer care, to staff incentives and training programmes.

“All the team at Crate should feel proud to be recognised for their exceptional contribution to the industry.”

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on July 4.
