TOFT fell to a third successive loss at the start of the ECB Premier League season in a crazy affair at Alderley Edge.

When Toft's innings ended on 99 all out in the 52nd over, their players knew they had a big job on their hands if they were to pull off a first win of the year.

But as the first Edge wicket was taken with no runs on the board, the second and third with only four runs amassed and then the fourth batter scalped with only 19 scored, the task was looking achievable.

George Bell (47) and Oliver Kenyon (21) took a foothold though and steered Alderley to the brink of victory, which was eventually achieved at 104-6 in the 28th over.

Toft's highest scorer and wicket taker was Adam Kenyon (22 not out, 3-18). Charlie Reid (6-34) did a lot of damage with the ball for the hosts.

This Saturday Toft host fourth-placed Hyde looking for their fortunes to turn.
